What Is an Access Card Encoder and How Does It Work? (AUSLOCK)

Mergim Hoxha |

An access card encoder is used to program certain card types for access control systems.

For many AUSLOCK setups, cards/fobs are enrolled directly at the lock via the app. In larger commercial systems, an encoder may be used as part of broader access control workflows.

Do you need one?

  • Most homes: No
  • Commercial / multi-door: Sometimes (depending on system design)
