AUSLOCK + Control4 Setup (Driver Install + Configuration)

This guide shows how to install the AUSLOCK Control4 driver, connect it correctly, and confirm lock/unlock control in Control4.

Download driver: AUSLOCK Driver for Control4 (Chowmain)
Announcement: Connected Magazine article

Before you start (checklist)

  • AUSLOCK App: Lock is added as Admin and works locally (Bluetooth).
  • Remote access: For off-site control and most automation, set up a Wi-Fi Gateway/Hub (details below).
  • Network: Stable internet on the Control4 controller.
  • Composer Pro: Required for driver install and configuration.

Remote control requirement: Wi-Fi Gateway / Hub (recommended / often required)

Most “integrations” (remote lock/unlock, scheduled codes, cloud automation) require the lock to be connected to a Wi-Fi Gateway/Hub. Without a gateway, the lock may only respond when your phone is nearby (Bluetooth range).

Gateway setup (AUSLOCK App)

  1. Wi-Fi: Ensure you have 2.4GHz Wi-Fi available (many gateways won’t join 5GHz).
  2. Placement: Plug the gateway in close to the lock (same room is best).
  3. Add gateway: AUSLOCK App → Gateway+ → select gateway type → power it on.
  4. Pair: When detected, tap Add → choose your 2.4GHz SSID → enter password → name the gateway.
  5. Bind lock to gateway: Link/bind the lock to that gateway (inside gateway/lock settings).
  6. Enable Remote Unlock: Lock → SettingsRemote Unlock → turn ON.
  7. Test: Turn Bluetooth OFF (or step away), use mobile data, then try remote unlock in the AUSLOCK App.

Tip: If schedules/codes are wrong, fix lock time + timezone first (most common cause of automation timing issues).

Step 1 — Install / update the AUSLOCK driver (Composer Pro)

  1. Open your project in Composer Pro.
  2. Go to Driver → Add or Update Driver.
  3. Install/update the AUSLOCK driver.
  4. Confirm the driver appears in your driver database.

Step 2 — Add the driver to your Control4 project

  1. Add the AUSLOCK driver to the correct room/device list in Composer Pro.
  2. Name it clearly (e.g., Front Door AUSLOCK).

Step 3 — Licensing / agent (if prompted)

Some drivers require licensing or an agent install step. If prompted, follow Chowmain’s licensing/agent instructions:

Step 4 — Test lock/unlock

  • Test Lock and Unlock from the Control4 UI.
  • Allow a few seconds for state updates.

Troubleshooting (fast fixes)

  • No response: Confirm the lock works in AUSLOCK App first. Then re-check driver settings and network stability.
  • Works only on-site: Gateway/Hub may not be set up or the lock isn’t bound to the gateway.
  • Delayed actions: Check gateway placement, Wi-Fi strength, and internet stability.
  • Schedule/time issues: Confirm lock time + timezone are correct.
