Why AUSLOCK batteries can drain quickly
Fast battery drain is usually caused by motor strain or too many lock cycles—not a “bad lock”. Start with the mechanical checks first.
Most common causes
- Door misalignment: latch/deadbolt rubbing on the strike plate
- Door not closing cleanly: auto-lock attempts multiple times
- High traffic use: many daily openings
- Low-quality or mixed batteries
- Cold/heat exposure or outdoor moisture
Fix checklist (in order)
- Replace all batteries with fresh, matching brand-name batteries.
- Test locking with the door open (should be smooth).
- If smooth open but not closed: adjust the strike plate so the latch/deadbolt slides freely.
- Reduce auto-lock attempts (set a sensible delay) and re-test.
- Check for binding weather seals or door sag.
Quick test
Lock/unlock 10 times with the door open. If it sounds strained or inconsistent, fix alignment before relying on it.
