Most common cause
A handle that loses resistance is usually a set screw or spindle engagement issue.
Fix steps
- Keep the door open.
- Locate the handle set screw (often underside/side of the lever).
- Tighten firmly (don’t overtighten).
- If it loosens again, add a tiny amount of medium threadlocker and re-tighten.
- Check the spindle is fully inserted and aligned.
If it still free-spins
- Spindle length may be incorrect
- Internal mounting screws may be loose
- Handle orientation/handing may need adjustment
