Case Study: Setting Up AUSLOCK for a Rental Property

This is a real-world setup blueprint for short-stay rentals and long-term tenants. The goal is simple: no key handovers, clean access control, and easy resets between guests.

Recommended setup (best practice)

  • Install AUSLOCK on main entry (and optional gate/garage if needed).
  • Add a Wi-Fi Gateway/Bridge to enable remote management.
  • Create access rules: guests, cleaners, maintenance, owner.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Owner account: set up the lock under the owner/admin AUSLOCK account.
  2. Remote access: pair the Wi-Fi Gateway and confirm lock is online.
  3. Guest access: issue time-based PIN codes that expire at checkout.
  4. Cleaner access: create a recurring schedule (e.g., Mon/Wed/Fri 10am–2pm).
  5. Emergency fallback: store mechanical key securely on-site (if applicable).

Turnover checklist

  • Expire old guest codes automatically
  • Rotate cleaner/contractor codes if needed
  • Review activity logs (optional)
