Overview
The AUSLOCK Wi-Fi Gateway (also called a Wi-Fi bridge) enables remote access features such as remote unlock, scheduled access syncing, and cloud activity updates (where supported). This guide shows the quickest and most reliable way to connect your gateway to Wi-Fi and pair it with your lock(s).
Before you start (important)
- Wi-Fi network: You must use a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (most gateways do not support 5GHz).
- Placement: Put the gateway close to the lock during setup (recommended within ~3–7 metres and minimal walls/metal between them).
- Phone settings: Turn on Bluetooth. If prompted, allow Location access for the AUSLOCK App (needed for Bluetooth scanning on many phones).
- Power: Have a USB power point or USB adaptor ready for the gateway.
Step-by-step: Configure the AUSLOCK Wi-Fi Gateway
- Open the AUSLOCK App on your phone and sign in.
- Tap the + (add) button.
- Select Gateway (Wi-Fi Gateway / Bridge).
- Choose the G2 (Wi-Fi) gateway option (wording may vary slightly by app version).
-
Power on the gateway. The status light should indicate pairing mode (commonly flashing red/blue).
Tip: Most gateways only stay in pairing mode for about 60 seconds after powering on — if it’s not discovered, unplug it and plug it back in. - In the app, tap the + next to the discovered gateway.
- Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
- Name the gateway (example: Main House Gateway / Unit 3 Gateway) and confirm.
- Wait for the setup to complete. Once connected, the gateway may automatically scan for nearby locks. If your locks don’t appear, move the gateway closer to the lock and refresh.
Enable Remote Access (Remote Unlock)
After the gateway is online, enable remote features on the lock:
- Stand near the lock (Bluetooth range).
- Open the lock in the AUSLOCK App dashboard.
- Go to Settings → Remote Unlock (or Remote Access).
- Switch it ON.
Once enabled, your lock screen should show a Wi-Fi/remote indicator (wording/icon varies by app version).
Troubleshooting (most common fixes)
- Gateway not found: Reboot the gateway (unplug/plug back in) and try again within the first minute of power-up.
- Wrong Wi-Fi band: Ensure you choose the 2.4GHz network (often the Wi-Fi name shows “2.4” vs “5G”).
- Wi-Fi password rejected: Re-enter carefully, confirm no spaces; try temporarily disabling “auto-join” and reconnecting.
- Pairing completes but lock stays offline: Move the gateway closer to the lock and keep it away from large metal objects / electrical cabinets.
- App can’t scan devices: Ensure Bluetooth is on and allow Location permission while using the app.
- Mesh Wi-Fi issues: Try pairing on the main router’s 2.4GHz network first (some mesh systems isolate devices).
- Still stuck: Restart phone + gateway, then try again. If needed, test with a phone hotspot (2.4GHz) to isolate router issues.
FAQ
Do I need one gateway per lock?
Usually no — a single gateway can handle multiple locks if they are all within reliable Bluetooth range of the gateway. If locks are far apart, use additional gateways.
Can I buy/setup the gateway later?
Yes. Your lock works locally via Bluetooth without a gateway. Add the gateway anytime to enable remote features.
Does remote access work if the power or internet drops out?
Remote features require the gateway to be powered and connected to the internet. Local access methods on the lock (PIN/fingerprint/card/key, depending on model) still work.
