Auslock Gateway Remote Access Guide
Use this guide to connect your Auslock lock to the internet for remote features (where supported by your lock model). Covers G2 (Wi-Fi 2.4GHz), G5 (Dual-Band Wi-Fi 2.4/5GHz), G3 (Ethernet), G3P (PoE) and G4 (4G/SIM).
Gateway Types (Choose the right one)
Pick a gateway based on how your site connects to the internet. If you’re unsure, submit your lock model + site details and we’ll recommend the correct gateway.
G2 Gateway (Wi-Fi 2.4GHz)
Connects to your router via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
Best for: Most homes and small sites on 2.4GHz.
G5 Gateway (Dual-Band Wi-Fi)
Supports 2.4GHz + 5GHz (including combined Wi-Fi names) and newer Wi-Fi standards (Wi-Fi 5/6 compatible).
Best for: Sites using 5GHz or combined SSIDs, or where you want a more modern Wi-Fi gateway.
G3 Gateway (Ethernet / RJ45)
Uses a wired RJ45 (Ethernet) connection.
Best for: Commercial sites where Wi-Fi is weak/restricted.
G3P Gateway (PoE)
PoE = data + power through one Ethernet cable.
Best for: Sites with PoE switches (clean install).
G4 Gateway (4G / SIM)
Uses 4G/LTE via SIM for internet connectivity (ideal when Wi-Fi/Ethernet is unreliable).
Best for: Highest reliability in varied locations (remote sites, temporary installs, unstable internet).
Before you start (important)
- Confirm your lock is already added in the app and works via Bluetooth when you’re near the door.
- Place the gateway close to the lock (closer is better; walls/metal doors reduce range).
- Ensure strong internet at the gateway location:
- G2: 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
- G5: 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi (including combined SSIDs)
- G3/G3P: Ethernet connected and active
- G4: SIM installed + good cellular signal
Tip: If pairing fails, it’s usually connection type (Wi-Fi band/Ethernet/SIM) or placement distance.
Step-by-step setup (G2 / G5)
G2 and G5 are added in the app the same way: open the app menu → Gateway → + → choose the gateway model. G5 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi.
1) Power the Gateway
Plug the gateway into power (G5 typically uses USB-C). Wait for the indicator light to blink (pairing mode).
2) Add it in the App
App menu → Gateway → + → choose G2 or G5. Select your gateway from the discovered list and name it.
3) Connect to Wi-Fi
Choose the Wi-Fi network and enter the password: G2 = 2.4GHz; G5 = 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
4) Bind the Lock
Keep the gateway close to the door. Bind/link the lock to the gateway in the app so remote features can work.
Setup notes (G3 / G3P / G4)
G3 (Ethernet)
Plug the RJ45 Ethernet cable into your router/switch first, then power the gateway. Add it in the app and bind the lock.
G3P (PoE)
Connect to a PoE-capable port (data + power). Then add it in the app and bind the lock.
G4 (4G/SIM)
Insert SIM (as required), power on, confirm cellular signal, then add in the app and bind the lock.
Tip: If the gateway is online but the lock won’t bind, move the gateway closer to the door temporarily (1–3m) for pairing.
Troubleshooting (quick fixes)
G2 won’t connect to Wi-Fi
- Ensure you selected the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Double-check password, then power-cycle the gateway and try again.
- Move the gateway closer to the router for setup.
G5 can’t find Wi-Fi / setup fails
- Try selecting 2.4GHz first, then 5GHz if preferred.
- If your router uses a combined Wi-Fi name, G5 should still support it.
- Power-cycle the gateway and retry discovery in the app.
Lock doesn’t appear when binding
- Move the gateway closer to the lock (try 1–3m).
- Confirm lock works via Bluetooth in the app when you’re beside it.
- Confirm gateway is online (Wi-Fi/Ethernet/SIM working).
Notifications not arriving
- Confirm your lock model supports notifications via gateway.
- Check phone notification permissions for the Auslock app.
- Confirm the lock is bound to the gateway and gateway is online.
Still stuck?
Submit your lock model, gateway model (G2/G3/G3P/G4/G5), and your connection type (Wi-Fi/Ethernet/PoE/4G). Include a photo of gateway placement for the fastest fix.
