Why alignment matters
If the latch/deadbolt rubs the strike plate, the lock strains, fails, or drains batteries quickly.
Alignment check (fast)
- With door open, lock/unlock 5 times (should be smooth).
- Close door gently and lock/unlock again.
- If it fails closed but works open: the strike plate position is off.
Fix tips
- Move strike plate slightly (often 1–2mm is enough)
- File/adjust strike opening if the latch is hitting the edge
- Check door sag (hinges may need adjustment)
