AUSLOCK Installation Tips (Avoid the Most Common Mistakes)
Most smart lock issues come from door alignment, incorrect drilling, or rushed setup. Use these tips to get a clean install the first time.
Before you install
- Confirm door thickness and backset match your lock type.
- Check the mortise/latch fits the door prep.
- Make sure the door closes smoothly and lines up with the frame.
During installation
- Do not overtighten screws (can distort alignment and cause binding).
- Keep wiring neat and not pinched.
- Test the handle/latch movement before final tightening.
After installation
- Test mechanical operation first (lock/unlock by hand).
- Power on and complete app setup.
- Run a full test: PIN, fingerprint (if applicable), remote unlock (if enabled), and auto-lock.
Quick troubleshooting
- Hard to lock: door/strike alignment issue.
- Handle feels stiff: overtightened screws or mortise mismatch.
