One-Time Access Codes on AUSLOCK (Cleaners, Trades & Service Providers)
Need to give access to a cleaner, tradie, or service provider one time only — without sharing your personal PIN? AUSLOCK supports guest access methods that let you create a code that works once (or only within a specific time window), then automatically expires.
Before you start (quick checklist)
- You must be an Admin/Owner of the lock in the AUSLOCK app.
- If you want codes to sync/expire reliably when you’re away from the door, you’ll typically need a Wi-Fi Gateway connected to the lock.
- Make sure the lock time is correct (gateway helps keep time synced).
Option A: Create a true “one-time” code
- Open the AUSLOCK app and select your lock.
- Go to Passcodes / Codes.
- Choose One-Time (or “One-time code”).
- Generate the code and share it with your cleaner/service provider.
- After it’s used once, it will no longer work.
Option B: Create a time-limited code (recommended for scheduled visits)
If your lock/app doesn’t show “One-Time”, you can still achieve the same outcome using a time window:
- Open AUSLOCK app → choose your lock.
- Go to Passcodes / Codes → Timed (or “Period”).
- Set the start time and end time (e.g. 10:00–12:00).
- Save and share the code.
- After the end time, the code stops working automatically.
Best practices (do this every time)
- Never reuse codes for different people.
- Set the shortest time window that still works for the job.
- Use names/labels (e.g. “Cleaner – Tuesday”) so you can audit later.
- After a job is finished, delete the code (even if it should expire).
Troubleshooting
- Code doesn’t work: confirm the correct lock, correct dates/times, and that the lock isn’t full of users/codes.
- Expiry didn’t apply while you were away: connect a Wi-Fi Gateway so changes sync remotely.
- App options look different: update the AUSLOCK app and re-open the lock menu.
